Beyoncé Giselle Knowles (born September 4, 1981), commonly known as Beyoncé is an American R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, she enrolled in various performing arts schools, and was first exposed to singing and dancing competitions as a child. Knowles rose to fame in the late 1990s as the lead singer of girl group Destiny's Child and went on to sell over 50 million records worldwide with the group.

After a series of commercial successes with the group, Knowles released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, in June 2003. The album became one of the most-successful albums of that year, spawning the number-one singles "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy". It earned Knowles five Grammy Awards in a single night in 2004, and its reception signaled her viability as a solo artist. The disbandment of Destiny's Child in 2005 facilitated her continued success; she released her second album, B'Day, in 2006, which spawned the UK number-one singles "Déjà Vu" and "Beautiful Liar", and the worldwide hit "Irreplaceable". Knowles released her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, on November 18, 2008.

The success of her solo albums has established Knowles as one of the most marketable artists in the industry. She has added acting and endorsement deals to her repertoire. In 2006, she starred in the comedy film The Pink Panther, and, in the same year, scored the main role in the film adaptation of the 1981 Broadway musical Dreamgirls, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. Knowles launched in 2004 her family's fashion line, House of Deréon, and among her many lucrative commercial deals are Pepsi, Tommy Hilfiger, and L'Oréal. Knowles has been with husband Jay-Z since 2002, though they have been discreet about their relationship. After much speculation, they married on April 4, 2008. Knowles has sold more than 75 million albums through out her career together with her album sales with Destiny's Child. She was the second highest paid musician between June 2007 and June 2008 raking in $80 Million in that span of time.

Dangerously in Love
Dangerously in Love is the debut solo album by American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles, released on June 24, 2003 by record label Columbia. Recorded during the hiatus of then-former group Destiny's Child, the album signaled Knowles' viability as a solo artist. Dangerously in Love sold over nine million copies worldwide. Along with numerous awards and accolades, it earned her five Grammy Awards in a single night in 2004, matching the likes of Alicia Keys and Norah Jones for most wins by a female artist. With number-one singles like "Crazy in Love" and "Baby Boy", the album became a worldwide commercial success, earning multi-platinum certifications in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Dangerously in Love facilitated Knowles in becoming one of the most marketable artists in the recording industry, signing to a number of lucrative promotional deals.

Besides Knowles' musical roots, the album explores hip hop and Arabic influences, courtesy of her record producers and featured guests. Housing a combination of up tempo songs and ballads, the album polarized the reaction of critics who approved the former and dismissed the latter. The album song's lyrics dominantly portray love; this recurring theme was attributed to Knowles' long-time relationship with Jay-Z, although she remained discreet about her interpretation of the songs.

B'Day
B'Day is the second solo studio album by American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles. Columbia Records, in collaboration with Music World Music and Sony Urban Music, released it worldwide on September 4, 2006 to coincide with Knowles's twenty-fifth birthday.

The album was originally planned for a 2004 release as a follow-up to her debut album Dangerously in Love. However, the project was put on hiatus due to the recording of Destiny's Child's final studio album Destiny Fulfilled and her starring role in the 2006 movie Dreamgirls. While on vacation after filming Dreamgirls, Knowles began contacting various producers; she had employed technique for faster collaboration, and completed B'Day in three weeks.

Most of the lyrical content of the album was inspired by Knowles' role in the film. The album's musical style ranges from '70s to '80s funk and balladry to urban contemporary elements like hip hop and R&B. Live instrumentation was employed on most tracks as part of Knowles' vision of creating a record using live instruments.

The album was commercially successful, debuting at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. It sold 541,000 units within a week of release, beating its predecessor, Dangerously in Love. The album yielded six singles, and was successful in music markets, entering the top ten of many charts worldwide. B'Day was re-released on April 3, 2007 as an expanded double-disc deluxe edition; a DVD counterpart was also released, featuring ten music videos of the songs from the album. The album has earned a three-time platinum certification in the United States from the Recording Industry Association of America.

I Am… Sasha Fierce
I Am… Sasha Fierce is the third solo studio album by American R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles, released on November 18, 2008 in the United States.

Knowles worked on the album for close to one year, longer than she had spent on her previous solo albums and records with former group Destiny's Child. She revealed that she had co-written and co-produced over seventy songs.
In a statement released on Knowles' official website, she wrote:
I am in a different place right now and I wanted to people to see the many sides of me. The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side. I have taken risks here. I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. There is no label or tag on my sound. It's me and I am so excited to share it with the world on November 18.
Knowles' father-manager, Mathew, explained the two-disc album, saying, "Beyoncé was adamant—and she has complete creative control—about dividing her songs. She felt she couldn't mix the songs together. She's in a much different space now than she was one year ago. She's married and in a really good place and this album reflects that."
The song "Halo", written by Ryan Tedder, was originally offered to Leona Lewis, but was given to Knowles because Lewis did not have the time to record it.
